R.I.S.E. Wellness Program

Our new R.I.S.E. program stands for Reach Inward and Shift Each day. This is a free community based education program open to all residents of Northumberland County including those who are not NFHT patients. The intent is to create social connections while shaing wellness information and strategies.

This program is open every Wednesday afternoon from 2 – 3:30pm at the NFHT office in the lower level of the Northumberland Mall – starting March 4, 2026. No registration is required. Participants are welcome to attend any session. There is no commitment required to attend all of them. Please note that if school buses are cancelled due to weather, so will this group.

RISE is a community based program open to adult residents of Northumberland County, who are ready to connect, discuss wellnes and preventive health issues and create positive change. Non-NFHT patients are welcome to attend. The program is for men and women.

Conventional healthcare often prioritizes treatment over prevention. We would like to fill this gap by delivering a pro-active, wellness program focused on sustainable behaviour change and whole-person care. Wellness and preventive health topics covered in this program will be based on the interests of participants.

The RISE program will be based on these 5 pillars of wellness:

  • healthy living/lifestyle change
  • nutritious eating
  • physical movement
  • alternative health practices
  • mental health

What can participants expect when they attend RISE?
When available, we’ll start by connecting with each over a nutritious snack and refreshments.
Information will be presented in a conversational and dynamic way by our staff and then the floor will be opened to discussion. Each session will include input from a social worker, dietitian and pharmacist. Participants will be encouraged to ask questions and staff will research any answers they don’t have to bring back to the group. Sessions may have guest speakers based on the topic. Each session will include some mindfulness and mental health tips.

We will be encouraging goal setting and helping participants reach those targets by connecting them with resources or providing information.
