Tick Talk – Ticks are now back. The confirmed number of ticks infected with Lyme disease has increased in Northumberland. If you find a tick attached to you, or a pet, remove it immediately. The risk of contracting Lyme disease increases after a tick has been attached for 24 hours or is engorged. Speak to your healthcare provider if you need help removing a tick or if you subsequently have a bullseye rash or experience flu like symptoms. There is a treatment for Lyme disease. For a map of Lyme disease risk areas and more click here.
